The "Strangler Fig" takes over a host tree and slowly encompasses the whole tree. Soon after mosses, bromeliads, orchids and other epiphytes begin to take hold and grow as rapidly as it does in the jungle. Painted from a photograph taken by the artist in Monteverde, Costa Rica.
